You could, but it would loose the ability to effectively press the pins down, which may throw your picking off. Go to a locksmith and I am sure they will give you two or three for free, or $0.50  .

Find a pencil lead or a pen refil or somthing that slids down the middle of the spring and then simply and carefully wind the bent part of the spring back around.

You should be able to get it quite close to what it should be like.

I take it you figured out that you had indeed forgotten to put a pin in that lock you were working on, or had let one fly out when re-assembling?

For a practice lock you can repair that spring. They're fairly soft and pliable. You just have to make sure the diameter of the spring is right.
If I was gonna use the lock for anything I'd just go to a lockie and get a new spring.

Jason, things dont appear out of thin air for free in the real world you have to pay for everything, the fact that you got some for free is great but yes people have to pay for things as a rule, the person that gave you some had to pay for them and they did you a favour by giving them to you, somthing that you take for granted i think.

When rebending the spring you will find you need to wrap it around somthing a bit smaller and make it smaler so when let go it goes to its proper size, let us know how you get on.
