I picked up this Master Lock and it seems like it's a piece of shit. I worked with it for a while then after about an hour, I realized I only had to set one pin to unlock it. Is this from wear from picking or is it really that bad?

Yeah, I love trying to teach my family stuff. It generally involves something on the computer so they are always like "go away" but yeah. I said it was a POS. I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I post from now on. I think I'm going to return the lock and get my money back now :D.

I'm going to bet that the pin you setting is the last pin?

You did not mention the type of pick your using but I think what’s happening is that you are setting the first three pins just getting to that last pin. As vector40 said "That's one of the worst bittings I've seen." All the pins in this lock appear to very close if not the same length. This usually makes a very easy lock to pick and rake.

If it is the last pin your setting try a hook pick. See if you can set this pin without making contact with the other three and you may find it wont open after setting it.

Interesting, i agree all the master lock number three key i have seen seem to have horrible bittins on them , one of my master locks the first three depths are the same and laston just one or two above the others, my snake rake with some little stwists opens it in seconds, my other the last three are almost identical and the first is just a hair lower, one sweep with a snowman and its open. But raking um is no fun, glad to see you trying to single pin pick good luck bud :D

I can pretty much use any pick but half diamond probably works best. I found out that it was spacifially the way I had my tension wrench that made it so easy. The plug is very loose. Yes, it is the back pens that need to be adjusted. It's pretty much impossible to set the back ones without touching the front, with my pick set at least.
