Master lock easy opening methods?

hey there everyone ^_^ i was just wondering wether there is an easier way to open masterlocks rather than the shimmy technique the reason for this request is because the shimmying doesent realy work for me , i followed the "freeweb" shim tutorial but the only thing is that i cant exactly fit the shim which is made out of a coke can into the left side of the lock , plus when i rotate it it always bugges and cuts so im never able to roate it 90 degrees , any helpful tips will be gratly appreciated thx.

Depends upon the model - on some you can insert a hook pick to the back of the lock, and then operate the latch mechanism.

its a combination lock and it says hardened on the top of it , not sure about model number since i left it in school.

There so easy to open just get a shim and put it down the shackle.

It will pop open and you will love it!

i realizes that shimmying is a technique and i have followed the tutorials perfectly its just that when i try to put the shim in the left side of the lock it doesent go in all the way and is hard to rotate.

I have the same lock and they shim VERY easily. I actualy used the plastic packaging to make a shim and shimmed it open, right in front of the shopkeeper's face - gave him a heart attack!

put the shim on the furthest left point of the photo shown. Hold both wings of the shim and turn together. These locks are easy to shim, believe me.

It took me 30 minutes from scratch to figure out how to use them, so just keep trying.

Dont put it in the left side of the left shackle just put it on the right side of the left shackle.


It works like a charm.

ok il try that i guess , but last time i did that there wasent even a small enough gap for the shim to fit in , hopefully it will work on another masterlock maybe it was just mine that was messed up or something.

that gap isnt big enough but the right hand side of the left shack;e has more room to fit it in there.

Proper shimming requires inserting the shim from the outside or front of the lock, and then rotating it inwards. On most locks, you need only one shim, on the side where the shackle closes, usually being the left side.

Trying to insert the shim on the inside of the shackle usually causes the shim to bend under the bolt's pressure, rather than pushing the bolt out of the way. Rotating the shim allows it to rest flat above and below the bolt's indentation, keeping it from bending.

A tip: Try pulling the shackle all the way out, but not too tight, before inserting the shim. If that doesn't work, try pushing it all the way down, but not too tight, and insert the shim deeper to allow for sliding.

Ok bud i have a good suggestion for a shim, i read it somewhere else and do not claim its my idea.. just passing it along, okay any way, take an aerosal can and use the sides of that BUT!!!!!!!!!!!! make sure the contents have been depleted 100% meaning take a 99cent spray paint can a cardboard box and some duck tape, go outside and duck that the sprayer down till it hold its in place and depleates the all the contents, leave it liek this for a day 24 solid hours to be absoluty sure (you dont want this thing to exploe, the shrapnel at this range would kill you, anyway once you thinks its completely empty use snips to to cut the standard shpe and use that, you'll find these to be much stonger.


And i am trusting you will not shim peoples lockers open... i fell victim to this my freshman year, the whole locker room had to buy there own locks with keys, this was before i knew what a shim was.

You seem like a cool guy, so i'm not worrying, but PLEASE! if you do try this excersize extreme caution, it is dangerous but if done carefully and properly theres nothing to worry about and the shims are top notch i have not broken one yet, jsut bent some and made more but shims are naturally a try away item.
