computer Locksmith Programs?

Postby plot » 12 Mar 2004 5:25

Anyone know of any computer programs for locksmithing? particularly programs for master key systems... or any other misc. program that would be usefull.

already searched the forum, found nothing. i'm sure google could help me out a little bit, but i'd like personal recommendations here... as these probably get pretty pricey.

if noone knows of anything, i suppose i could go more in depth on my study of master keys and write my own program...

There are many on the market as far as master key systems, but honestly, the best bet is to learn how to do it properly and design your own system. UNLESS of course this is a service you perform frequently. HPC makes a popular master key program, but as you've already mentioned, they can be rather pricey.

Are you looking at designing a single system, just learning how to do it, or looking at making masterkeying a part of your career?

largely learning how to do it -- more importantly, learning how to do it so you can have master keys, change keys, etc. complex systems.

I posted a bit about doing your own MK system. Here are some books that you could probably buy them all for less than software.

The Complete Book of Locks and Locksmithing Bill Phillips
Masterkeying by the Numbers, Billy B. Edwards
The Manual of Master Keying, by G.L. Finch
