where to put the tension wrench

Postby darrel.h » 5 Jun 2006 16:04

Hello all,

I am wondering where the best place to put the tension wrench is. Should it be in front of the pins or should it be under the pins?

The best place will depend entirely on the keyway. The best place will be the placement that gives you the best torque while providing the best access to the pins with the pick. Different keyways will require different attacks.

it does not matter top or bottom,it's whats best for you and which way you need to turn the plug.but if you put it where the pins are push it right in then pull it back a bit so it does not touch the first pin

Its all good chris!

I got my reply in first, but both of our replies were relevant. See, now he knows that if he places the wrench in the top he needs to pull the wrench out a bit so he will not interfere with the front pins.

The regular place is in the bottom of the keyway but if you cant do that and not hit the lock case with it then go for the top, unless you have a short wrench you will find it hard as a noob to stop a wrench pushing on the first pin whilst it is in the top of the lock, a wrench works ok anywhere in the profile as long as it doesnt hit the lock case or the pins and doesnt stop your picks manipulating the pins properly.
