How to make a Bumping Key

Postby screamdudeguy » 10 Jun 2006 23:49

I am looking to learn how to make a bumping key. I have searched EVERYWHERE but I can't seem to find alot of information on them. I don't want to go to a store and have one cut, I want to take a key I have and file it down. Can anyone tell me what type of file I should use? Also, i read online that other parts of the key need to be filed down for this to work. Does that have to be done or does it just make it easier? I would appreciate any information that can be given. Thanks.

I have searched but I couldn't find anything really in detail about it. If someone could explain it or post links to posts that already discussed this topic would be great. Thanks.

Happy to help, but you really should try to use the search function a little more. Try clicking the radio button that says "use all words" rather than "use any words" when you search. Hopefully watching the whatthebump video and this link will get you started...

I made one and posted a picture along with my version of the bump hammer... It's on one of the threads regarding self-made bump hammers. I leave it up to you to find it through the search engine. All you really have to do is take a key find where the pins fit - the low spots on the key, and use a file to grind it down...
