skeleton keys

I read that warded locks can only be opened with skeleton keys or shims. Would it be smarter to invest in a set of skeleton keys or just keep some shims on hand?

You must mean padlocks, no youve read wrong somewhere, they can be opend with simple tools and such like as well.
