I need new picks :(

Postby omgxraycat » 24 Jun 2006 5:48

I recently just bought my first pickset (5 piece beginner set from southord). I have already been having a few problems getting into small keyholes (master padlock #7) and schlage / yale deadbolts. I think I'm going to order a slim line set.

Does anyone know of any slim line sets with rubber handles? I'm looking to spend under $50 for a decent set. I usually use my half diamond pick (seems easier to use than the hook), hook pick, and rake. I don't need anything more than 15 pieces. Honestly, I don't think I would even use 15, but I just enrolled at Foley-Belsaw and I'm seriously debating on making this my new career. Is there anything out there that would last me a while in the field?

Thanks for your time.

if you want better then SouthOrd then $50 is a little low but look at some of HPC and Peterson stuff it's pretty nice

sweeperbristles

find some sweeperbristles and make what you need, this will allow you to fit a pick to any size lock you wish. its not hard to do, and you will eventually get around to it anyway, seems like most of the oldtimers here have.

Of course, you could try slimline SouthOrd picks, or if you if you wanna be really cool, the Peterson Slender picks. :)
