P.S. The link above doesn't seem to be the last year's list. It seems to be from '99.
Sorry.

I have only met in person 2 other people who could pick locks that were not locksmiths (I am asuming every locksmith I met could pick locks.) One guy worked for a company that repos cars and he just knew how to use jigglers or try out keys. The other person never really went past the master padlock stage. I think a lot of users see a TV show and then search the internet and find this web sight. After they register and read a bit they fine out it takes a lot of practice, time, skill and a set of picks.

bembels list

The list in bembels link is very interesting, the second lock, illustrates another use of the euro cylinder, you can just mount a handle in the middle of it and use the lock face for a hammer head.
the opening times on those locks, amazing how many of them are less than ten seconds. the germans an lockpicking, what do they know that we don't :? Is Varjeal sending the same locks to the shoocon as last year?

We don't know more about picking than anybody else. However, the champions I've met so far were really impressive.
Same for the dutch guys!
Of course there's also a lot of raking in a competition which explains times like 3 seconds or less.

P.S. There's a detail in german (ssdev) rules you might find interesting: Everyone brings his own lock to the competition, but first you have to prove that you can open it yourself within 5 minutes. Otherwise you're out!
So you must choose your competition lock very carefully: As difficult as possible for the others but still easy enough to qualify.
