Yea i agree i have never been able to use that crap rake on anything, it doesn't even fit most locks, i would have more luck with .5mm lead

crap rake

Postby Buzzzy » 10 Jul 2006 4:25

I was given a few of these a while back by a builder, it seems demand was low and he had extras, imagine that.
The only use I could see was to reshape that massive bulldozer tip into something useful.
There might be a demand for a quality commercial pick with a large rectangular tip that could be custom shaped

I only have one without a handle so if i screw up ehh. Any body elese have a mobbed one or does something to one by all means post :P

doesnt the falle safe set have a few picks like that in the set. but im prity sure they dont have tips like that. i like those kind of rakes i have been trying to make a few with diffrent combinations of low and high points kinda like the king, queen and bogota but with the bottom not sanded off. i think the only thing wrong with it is that tip. some one messed up the die mold and the were not making another.

I think the falle L-rake varieations are sweet, thres three but they cover a good many combos either through raking or rocking or both in unison. I would probobly buy them if they were individual but ehh.

The L-rake's are easy to make just take a round needle file, and a carbide bit, and an emory wheel.

First bench gring the shape and thickness of the head, then use the emory wheel to cut the initial depths, the use you carbide bit to make the nice round valleys, then for smaller or less deep valley's, use your needle file.
