I'm having trouble trying to find a tensoin wrench that would be decent for most locks. A lot of people recommended to me the z tension which is about 1.50. The only thing is from the sites i've searchedc through shipping is about 9$.... And they require creditcard. Trust me i've been searching, i couldn't really find nothing in the forums and yes i've read the mit guide. If anyone thinks they can help me find a good tension wrench that is under 6$ all together then please post the site. Thanks much!!!

You find a tension wrench that is decent for "most locks". You'll need a set with a variety of tip length and width. Different locks require different wrenches due to the warding etc. I think most people on here use only two or three different picks regularly, but have a selection of 6 or more wrenches to chose from.
I don't quite understand why you explicitly want to buy one, though. If you have searching you should have seen like hundreds of threads that mention that windshield wiper metal inserts are a great stock to make those yourself, in exactly the length, width and design you like. All you need is those wiper blades and pliers. Use the search engine to see pictures and descriptions on how to make those. Buying those makes no sense in my eyes.

I assume that by calling it the "Z" tension wrench you mean these things? http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... ProdID=319 I use a simmilar tension tool and I perfer it over any other tension wrench because unlike a regular wrench, it will not get obstructed by the door frame, such as when you are turning the lock clockwise with the lock situated on the left hand side of the door and you can only place the tension wrench at the top of the keyway rather than the bottom because it was designed sloppy like a lot of older kwiksets.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Preference I guess. I don't like them, I get better feedback on straight ones...

i agree- twist flex are nice, but with a straight handled one, you get much better feedback, you can feel how much tension is being applied DIRECTLY to the plug. with the twist flex, you dont really know, its less than you are applying, but you cant always feel as well.
again, its personal preference. i like SO's set that i got, it had 4 TW's and one was twist flex, all in all, within the first night i had them, i opened like 10 of my 12 locks rather quickly, and multiple times.

Not the rubber part, you have to peel back the rubber to find two strips of stainless steel attached. Why wouldn't it work?

when i went to the junk yard for wiper blade inserts i had to look around
because the winter blades didn't have the steel inserts and some newer cars where all plastic. i had to go to the older cars. if you have a problem just keep looking.

To get a wrench that will fit common locks, go for wrenchs that go into the top of the cylinder, warding on keys ways is why theres diffrent wrenchs, you will find most tops of plugs are allt he same.. give a few .00milimeters diffrence. Plus the feel is better and you wont have to worrya bout cathcing the plug with the wrench.
Find my homebrew pick post and in there is an example, igornore all the bends i made thre just to have the wrnech exactly where i need it.. my hands cramp.
