S.O. Combo set??

Postby Slyder2k6 » 23 Jul 2006 17:54

I was thinking about getting the SO combo set2.Does anyone know if this is a good set. Or would I be better off buying something cheaper until I am more skilled?I do have the 11 piece beginers set otw from lockpicks.com. So I guess the Q. is should I buy the combo now or later when I am more skilled at picking? Any feedback would be great.Thx

Do you have a link for us as to what the combo set is or what one is?

If you have a set already then no you dont need another, its the picker that opens locks not the tools so much, save your money for practise locks,

Agree, the SO 11 piece is more than adequate for starting out. It has a half diamond, snake and hook which you will use the most for pin tumblers, and ball pick for wafer locks. Don't need much more until you get into higher security locks.

This is the link to the combo set that i was looking at. Scroll down about halfway. But with the tips on keeping it simple for now. i will wait for this set or may never need it.would love to have the gun though just to have one. Does anyone know where to get a fairly inexpensive but reliable one would be? Thx again for all the feedback.

Pointless in getting that set at all,

If you want a gun look around for details on making a home made snap gun,

They arent really hobby pickers items,

mmmmm. stop. try working with the tools you have one the way before busting out and buying a lot of stuff. what happens if you dont like picking that much? or what if this happens:

you buy a huge set (or even just 32pc, etc) and you find that you only ever need a hook and tension wrench? you now have 2 or 3 very useful pieces and 30 pieces that sit there.

this happens more often than you might think, n00bies buy a big set and then give it away because they dont need that many, it just looks cool to have and lets you say "yeah, i have a 62 piece set"

practice with what you have and go from there. but also, what would you need with auto jigglers? you cant even get access into the advanced forums to learn about autos yet. and snapguns are really for lockies that need to open locks fast, as stated by shrub (i believe) they arent really hobby pickers items.

i didnt notice the auto jigglers to be honest. i realy dont need those i would never use them. and as far as the gun i will probably just keep the one i made according to sams choice post.. I just wanted a gun to have one. And i understand the whole "status" thing with the more picks but like you said and shrub who i agreed with i probably would never need all of that. So i will be sticking with my 11 piece i have otw.. And as far as likeing picking i realy do enjoy it. I have allways been good with my hands and this is just a new chalenge to try.Thx again for all the feedback.
