I have had my lockpicking kit (Southord PXS-17) for a couple of days and I have been practicing on a Master lock 150 padlock. When I look down the keyhole of the lock, it appears like the lock only has 3 pins, bu the labels say it has five. Does this lock have some special second device that also locks it, because I have set the 3 pins that I can see. Is there any trick that would get the last device, or does anyone know where the other pins are??
Any help appreciated...

The other pins are right behind the first three. No sidebar, special anything. Lock probably has security pins, not something for a beginner.

It isn't usual that you can see all the pins from the front but they're
there. Try to feel them with your pick.
I suggest you get a door like (like a kwickset or schlage) that lets you take pins out.

So I should go to a hardware store and buy one of those doorknob things, or should I practice on the door at my house?

You want a practice lock to take apart and add and remove pins
to. I wouldn't want to take apart my door lock. Beside,
what will lock your house while're youre taking it apart?
Buy a little dead bolt lock (doesn't need a door knob).

I also have a lock that I don't know what company it is made by. It is a large padlock with "Storage Defense" written on it. I think that has a double locking device on it. What should I do with this lock??
Also, how do you get around the double locking things??

I beleive he means "heel and toe" locking on a padlock. Once you pick it, you dont have to worry about these things, it is as though you used the key.

The hasp of a padlock is shaped like a letter j. The part which stays in the lock is referred to as the 'heel', whereas the part which swings out of the way enabling you to hook it around something, is referred to as the 'toe'.
Heel and toe locking involves inserting a locking device (bolt or steel ball) into a cutout on both parts of the hasp. Open a padlock and you will see a cutout on the toe only, or on both the heel and the toe.
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

In general, if you find a lock that is ball bearing locking, it is fairly sure to be heel and toe locking. Master laminated padlocks are heel and toe locking as well.

The Kwikset knobs are a small difficulty to pop the lock out the front without the V tool.
grab a single dead and mount it on a small wood board so it is easier to eork on.
If you want to get a little more difficult grab kwiset titan and play with that.
