How do I modify these?

Postby Sniper78 » 1 Oct 2006 14:57

I bought this set of 9 keys on ebay. They were called depth keys, and I thought there bump keys. Only the 5 peak schalge worked on some doors. Now of the other work on others. So I've read the tips and shoulders have to be modified but how much? Thanks.

Well, seeing as this is your first post, welcome!!

Have you ever picked locks before? Personally, lockpicking is much more fun than bumping, as bumping is so easy an 11 yr old girl could do it.

Why do you need all of those bumpkeys? Can you post a pic of the locks you have to practice on?

We here on LP101 are mostly lock pickers, and tend to gravitate away from bumping for the most part.

Remove a small ammount from the shoulder, and some from the tip.

Yeay! Bumpkeys!

Your bumpkeys open doors, not locks? I think you bought the wrong kind. You need the other kind.

where do i have to modify them to simply open doors. That's all I want to do for now. I have opened my room door and front door with the schalge 5 peak but none of the other keys open the types of doors there intended for.

Are you a locksmith?

What doors are you trying to open,

If you are not a locksmith you shouldnt be trying to open doors with them,

I am working on a project to show how easy this method can be. It will amaze everyone and I'll do very well hopefully. So for each I should file some from the front peak, and some on the shoulder. Could someone here please draw on my pic how far i should go. I would have no clue either where to modify the shoulder.
