Persistence. I have gotten to the point of wanting to give up and take a break, and just then it opens. And sometimes, it is good to take a break and come back fresh I still have a lock that is giving me grief with a very restricted keyway.

Tubular locks have the pins facing out going around in a circle. You are almost never going to see these on a home.

Perhaps your terminology is incorrect?

Where are these locks you are having problems with? We all have to be on the same page if we are going to be able to help you any.

I don't even think he means 6 pin tubular locks, I think he means 6 pin tumbler lock.

Interesting description.

Is there a name on the front of this lock, or can you take a picture of the key and lock?

No, thats not what I meant to say at all.

If he's done any reading here at all, he's been told that over and over. If he's bound and determined to pick this silly lock, the least I can do it figure out how many ways he can screw it up.

That way when he asks how to put it back together, I might have some sort of clue as to what he is talking about.

We can only tell people something so many times, after that we either help them fix the mess or we ignore them.

Romstar, i was only saying that b/c it does not sound like he owns the lock he is trying to pick.

btw, it sounds like a primus(triangles engraved = sidebar?).

Well, he said they were on his apartment, so I'll take him at his word.

Although that whole triangles engraved thing is what threw me. So, I don't know for sure what he is picking, and he shouldn't be picking anything on his doors, but if they are his, its his mistake to make.

At least we have had one other person on here learn that lesson this week. He had the gumption to not only own up to doing it, but he replaced the locks as well, so you get some extra lessons there anyway.

Still, I would love to know what this guy is picking so that if he does stuff it, maybe we can help him figure out how to fix it.

Perhaps it's the triangle-shaped cut-outs on the bow of a Kwikset key.

Could he not be using a bike lock. The U-shaped ones that look like this Image
or is that not a tubular lock.
