Drilled small hole in door and unlocked?

Hi there,

This is my first post here, but I've been picking locks (albeit very badly) on and off for decades.

On another board I read a post by a guy whose house was broken into--the thief drilled a 6mm hole in the door and apparently used a tool to unlock and relock the door.

Any ideas on what type of tool could have been used? What could fit through a 6mm hole? This is just baffling me!

My current hobby is watch repair, so I'm good with tools and very, very small things... I may have to get back into picking. Reading this board has got my interest piqued, and I do have a few old locks lying around!

The only thing I can think of is a similar tool to this one found on my first post, 2nd picture down.

check out the desription of the tool below the picture. All I can really think of that would actually open the door.

A small wire that can pull the bolt can fit through this hole, even through a smaller one. You could also insert a bent wire to pull down the inside door handle. I hope this is sufficient for you as I don't like to be specific when it comes to bypassing.

This sounds like a technique used to open lever locks but not sure how to lock from it. Over here i know lever locks can be opened by the very skilled with a hole as small as 2mm .

just think about DB and were you could drill so that you could throw the bolt
