I've messed up a wafer lock or two before...(don't ask)
Breaking a wafer is extremely difficult, HOWEVER, bending or distorting the shape is not quite as difficult. (Though still pretty tough to do.)
Using auto jigglers in the wrong type of lock CAN potentially damage certain locks, but unless you're a complete moron and start using foreign objects for leverage, it's not likely to happen.
The thread some time ago about the guy who was picking the (VW I think) door lock and the cylinder came out had a problem that had NOTHING to do with his picking, but resulted from damage/wear to the lock retaining system.
ace1627: Your best starting point would be to purchase a Master no.3 from your local hardware store.
