HELP - LOCKED KEYS IN TRUCK

Hello,

I am so embarrassed and am looking for some help. I locked my keys in my truck and was wondering if anybody new a common way to unlock the door without having a specialized tool. I have a 97 Chevy Silverado. Any help would be appreciated? Thanks! 8)

I would suggest calling a locksmith.

Lets see, Open a car..... common method....... no special tools. Hmm...... Brick, or a phone.

I know we're not supposed to give specifics on this forum, but to be vague, you need to get an automotive break in kit. You can use the various tools in to pull open the actual lock. If your truck has power locks, I have heard of people using a wire to hit the power unlock switch. Otherwise you really should have a spare set of keys made. My Dodge came with little numbers on the plastic bag that the origional 2 keys came in. I can use these numbers to have keys made at any Dodge dealer (if I can prove that I own the truck). Check your owner's manual for something like this. hope this helps.

Just for future reference... whenever I open the trunk, I always leave my keys in the keyhole so I can't lock the keys in the trunk (which is what I did once...lucky the rest of the doors weren't locked yet!).

Just a note - I don't have a problem with my keys scractching the paint when I leave them in the keyhole since I never slam the drunk (nor doors, nor hood) closed like most people do. For those who do, they're usually jiggling up there so you can hear them clink - pull them out before you slam the trunk or else it'll start scratching the paint up!
