Type of Master Locks

Recently I was in the Hardware "locks" section looking at a few different padlocks... how do you tell which Master locks are which? ...#1, 5 or something? 8)

it's usually stamped on the base of the lock. I'll see if I can scare up some photos

No dice on those photos, although I could have sworn I've seen some on this site. Let me know if anyone knows where they are.

But you should still get the basic idea. Just look at the base of the lock (the side the keyway is on) and it should be stamped next to the plug,

Sounds straight-forward enough! I'll take a look next time...

Do you know off hand which ones are which? (which ones have a spring, which ones aren't, etc?) 8)

There they are. Thanks Kung. I know the No. 3 (3rd one down in this picture ironically enough) does not have spring tension to its plug. If you are looking to start picking with a padlock, I'd recommend this one, although for starting out, I'd recommend a kwikset deadbolt, as it has more room for your picks in the keyway. Good luck and take care.
