Suitcase closed with change lever in change position!

Hello folks, I have done a stupid thing and need your advice.

Having received two shiny new suitcases with combination locks, I proceeded to change the combination by moving the change lever to the change position, changed the 3 combination numbers and then I closed the case why oh why oh why????!!!!

If I had read the instructions I would have not closed the case, however I am now locked out of the case with the change lever still in the change positon ...

I have tried the number I thought I had changed the combination to but because the change lever is still in the change position this has not worked. Therefore I don't think that running through the combinations from 000 to 999 will help me.

heeeellllp ... what can I do ...

Thats strange. Normally, a lock of that sort will open on any combination if the change lever is in the change position.

If that isn't the case, using a small wire to push the locking dog sideways should work as the combination isn't fixed, and the dog should be able to move.

You may be able to knock the reset lever off again with a wire but make sure the numbers are lined up and you remember them as they will be your new code,

Hmm, just a thought, but try sending them through the airport's checked luggage conveyor system. All the slamming around might cause the change lever to flick to the default position.

Thank you for your replies. The suitcase is now open - with a little brute force, the combination locked is screwed but the case is still usable!!Cheers Joolsy

I just thought I would add something...you guys probably know this one but, if you pull on the lever that retracts the locking bar on the lock while spinning the dials, it will move out a little as each dial hits the right number. I had a suitcase come in today w/ the combo unknown and it worked a lot faster than trying to get something in between the dials to find the flat spot.
