Picking a lock, while a reliable means of opening for a professional can sometimes become a damaging pastime for the beginner.

It is assumed that a professional locksmith, or experienced hobbiest will know the limitations of the lock they are picking, a beginner may not have this knowledge and thefore can damage their lock.

Damage can range from mashed or broken springs, scored plugs, damaged pins, or even popped cylinders in the case of some key in knob locks.

In an effort to disuade the average beginner from damaging their locks, we always recomend against it until such time as they have learned what can go wrong, and therefore hopefully avoid a costly call to a locksmith, or even replacement.

and another thing, try to stay away from locks that have to turn more than 180 degrees to open, the top pins will get stuck in the bottom of the keyway. Many people have found out about this by picking their front door lock, and having it get stuck, and having to call a locksmith just to have him push the pins back up and turn it :D
It's ok guys, i have a really bad attention sp-wow look, a beach!
