noob plz help

i am having trouble i have a lock nothing special it has 5 pins and well i can get all of them up i have picked it abut 7 times but they are all hitt and miss i just want to no if i could be putting too mutch tention and the pins are too far in and cant come down or if they are just sticking i dont no

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.

Proper tension comes with experience, every lock is different so theres no way to tell you exactly how much tension to use. Just keep trying with more or less tension until you are consistant. The best advice I can give you is to insert your pick without adding tension to see how stiff the springs are, then you can use that to judge the ammount of tension needed to bind the pins. Also, if you know the resistance without tension, you should easily be able to tell which pin is binding when you add tension.

go to viewtopic.php?t=10677&highlight=beginner+exercise and do it from beginning to end, it took me about a month to do it right. At first I had no clue what was happening inside the lock, but this exercise helped me understand what the stuff I was feeling meant.
