Tension Wrench Pressure

Postby Marcus8880 » 17 Jan 2007 23:25

How hard are you suppose to push the wrench and lockpick? And do you have to pull the lockpick out so fast and hard to get the tumblers to click? I'm a beginner and I'm still trying to pick my first lock. I'm using a homemade lockpick made up of a shaped needle and a small jackknife blade as a tension wrench.

tension wrench pressure..to start off with just take the slack out of the plug, and if the pins wont set then try a tiny bit harder until they start to set. Rmember were not trying to force it open...If you start off too hard it wont work either.

And do you have to pull the lockpick out so fast and hard to get the tumblers to click?

Dont know what movie youve been watching but this is generally a really bad idea...youl break your picks. I suggest you start at the back and slowly puch each pin up until it "sets". this is wen it clicks and hopefully youl feel it aswell. move foward until youv done them all. if a particular pin goes down but doesnt click, skip it and come bak to it later. if you get to the front, having pushed all the pins and it doesnt open, chances are you have pushed one too far. you will need to realease tension and start again.
I suggest making or buying proper picks and tension wrenches...
