Making my own pick set Got a ?

Postby Hatt3r » 1 Apr 2007 18:55

Hey all I'm new to this site and spent last night reading through the forums. Anyways I own a dremel no grinder though and I downloaded the pick templates. I just had a few questions maybe someone here can help me with.

1) Will jigsaw blades work? I have a 13 piece jig saw blade set from Black and Decker. Also I found 2 other jigsaw blades, 2 saber saw blades, and 4 other blades ( I think they are saw blades ). Now these are small so I don't know if I should make them out of this. If anyone wants pictures of the jigsaw blades so you can see what I'm working with I will scan some.
* Or do you recommend I take the bigger blades off the two hacksaws I own

2) Which templates do you recommend and which ones do you use the most?

I was hoping to start this soon so any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the site,

Jigsaw blades are too thick and thinning them down is likely to get them too hot,

Hacksaw blades are the way to go,

Hook picks are the most common followed by dimonds and then a rake of some sort,

Never under estimate the tension wrench and make at least one for every pick you have with a minimum of at least 5,

If you havent already you can click my www button for a simple guide on making picks just use the dremmel instead of the bench grinder,

Dont get them hot when you are grinding them, quench in clean cold water every second,
