You use tools depending on how they work in the lock FOR YOUR OWN EXPERIANCES,

That means that i may use a snake rake to single pin pick a yale lock but someone like schuyler may use a short hook,

So as you can see your question has no answer,

What i will say is however that the snowman pick (you have searchedf the site so know the names i assume) works very well on wafer locks used as a rake,

The hook picks are the ones to use for single pin picking by most general assumptions with the dimounds following closely behind,

The others are rakes,
There are a few threads on this with one big one i can remember being exactlly what you asked so maybe search the site next time and add to existing threads,

Like Shrub said, the type of pick you use depends mostly on your own preference and style of picking locks. The majority of us use a hook pick 70% to 80% of the time and some sort of rake for the rest.

you picked one lock ten times, and now you cant pick that lock, i think all the nubes have a similiar experience, you were getting frustrated and increased tension to the point where it wouldn't pick. anyway thats the explaination that gets my vote,

I think just about everyone here has that kind of experience still. Most of my standard locks I can open if I'm careful to use the right amount of tension and mental concentration but when it comes to my Medeco cylinder, I can open it most of the time but sometimes it really gets me stumped and I just can't seem to open it on some days.
