Clam kits typically use plain bismuth or a bismuth alloy, due to its low expansion cooling properties.
"Woods metal" is a VERY low-melt bismuth alloy and VERY expensive, that it would be absurd to use in a clam kit unless you really need to mold a key with nothing but hot running water. LockMasters is using a 150°F melting point bismuth alloy, which should melt under candle flame.
Also caution: Melting bismuth alloy releases fumes which are very toxic to inhale. These clam kits do not warn you of this hazard.
You can find all sorts of grades of bismuth and low-melt bismuth alloy online for prices ranging $10 a pound to $50 a pound. Just Google.
And I know someone is going to comment about unitednuclear.com, which sells pure bismuth. They are 400% overpriced, and small quantities of bismuth and its alloys can be had for cheaper anywhere else.
