Hi a week ago i picked my first lock my back door. with the help of a hand book and a a set of southord mpxs-14. what a great sence of achievement that was .well 4 padlocks later cheap ones at that .could anyone please tell me a good lock to get my pick in to padlock or any other kind. and a good book on lockpicking that is. there are so many out there .thanks

For discussion of books see the lockpicking/smithing book reviews thread in the general forum. It seems the favourites are the LSS book and the freely available MIT guide. You can find LSS at www.security.org and the MIT guide all over the net, findable via google.

As for locks, the general advice is to start with pin tumblers. There is a thread with a list of good easy-to-pick brands in the european forum.

Good luck; I'm pretty new myself and find the hobby to be increasingly interesting and consuming. I hope you do too :)

thanks for the info . im getting better by the day just picked my helix security box with a very small wranch and after using most of my pick the ball pick done the job boy this is fun. for the new boy on the block :lol:
