What kind of file to use ?

Postby Millow » 4 Jul 2007 20:12

What kind of file should I use to make a 999 key if the cut angle of the key are 90 degrees ?

I tried looking for a square file but I can't find any, any alternative ?

Thx
Millow

A square file is included in most every needle file assortment I've seen. I wouldn't try using anything larger than a needle file.

I use this set for most all my impressioning/key filing work, http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... ProdID=529 . If I need to I put the finishing touches to even things out with a needle file set I got from Radio Shack.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Other than a square file.. a rectangular file? lol. Most hardware stores I've visited have some sort of square or rectangular files. This for foil impressioning I'm guessing? :P

that means bump key by the way. unless hes looking for depth and space keys, but how often are newbies actually looking for depth and space keys?

Search is the best answer i can give, we dont want another bumkey thread on here,

Any file less than 90' will make a 90' cut, you just have to learn how to use a file,

A file is not designed to cut on more than one surface at any one time even though everyone does it, if you take a file and cut on either side individually you can make anything,
