I agree that standard schlage springs will work just fine. A step up from the kwikset as stated will be a schlage deadbolt. Quite a bit more expensive than a kwikset however. You might check ebay and pick up some schlage rim or mortise cylinders much cheaper. Buying rim or mortise cylinders will be better for you since they are larger and easier to hold in your hand than buying a standard key in knob cylinder. Be sure to buy schlage brand however as knock offs seem to have much looser tolerances than schlage brand locks. Other locks to look for that would be a step up are yale, winkhaus, american, brinks square shrouded padlock or any brinks brand padlock (available at wal mart for a fair price), and higher end master padlocks such as the pro series with the master cylinders. They are usually similar to the american brand locks in that they use serratted pins and spool pins.
