Schlage paracentric/numbered keyways

Postby WOT » 7 Oct 2007 3:57

I have done some internet searching on it and this is what I learned.

There are 8 positions, 1 to 8 and the four digit number represent the shape, for example 1246 means either indent or protrude in positions 1,2,4 and 6.

There are 12 paracentric keys in Kaba-Ilco catalog.
1246, 1247,1248,1345, 1347, 1348, 1368, 1400, 1456, 1460,1467 and 1468

Another one that I'm aware of is
SC3578, but this one isn't in Ilco catalog.

What other paracentric keys are out there?

Schlage paracentric keys are "restricted" in the same way genuine repair parts for electronic equipment are restricted, meaning they're not legally restricted, but the factory is exclusive in distrubition.

Well, it appears thumb side = odd, finger side = even

The starred parts appears to be same on all paracentric keyways.
