You could break the door - might be cheaper to replace it than to call a locksmith out.

It is impossible to "somehow" lock a deadbolt from the other side of the door. The "or we can't find the key" makes no sense. Which is it? We cannot help you. If you do not have lockpicking tools you won't pick it. We cannot tell you how to pick a lock that is in use anyway. We do not discuss bupass information on the open forum. You need to call a locksmith or just deal with a locked door.

Hi Spuder, welcome to Lockpicking!

First off, I love the subject title, it's precise, there is no doubt of what you are asking!

So let me get straight to the answer:

spuder wrote:I have a door at my house which has a dead bolt.

Now don't we all? What a fantastic world we live in!

spuder wrote:It's on the inside of the house.

Is it only on the inside? How do lock lock the door from the outside then? Do you by any chance have a backdoor?

spuder wrote:We some how locked it from the inside or we just can't find the key.

Yes, you've definitely locked the door from the inside and then you went out the backdoor!

spuder wrote:We just can't find the key.

It's in the keyway on the inside, remember, you locked it and went out the backdoor!

How do you safely do what?

Go around the house, open the back door, (the key is under mat), you will now have access to the deadbolt, that is located on the inside, the key is in the keyway!

:D

Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.

safely do what? remove the lock and replace it with a new one. Pick the lock open?
If you want to remove it, just undo the screws on the inside. Replace with a new lockset, or take the old lockset to a locksmith and have him rekey, or decode the lock and make new keys for you.
