I did recommend that beginners try to impression a master lock, one of the four pin ones, its actually easy, but, to do it, you have to file down some of the shoulder, not so much that it wont index the pins, but enough so that the high round hump of the shoulder will not block all bumping by hitting the bottom cap lamination on the edge of the hole. this information is specific to laminated padlocks generally.
