Well, I think the top one looks fine but the diamond and the rake look good at the tip and look a little fat as you get towards the handle. This might make it hard to get at the back pins and keep from messing with the front pins. might try filing the shafts down a bit. Otherwise pretty good for coat hangers.

Their fairly good, but you might have trouble with restrictive locks.. You won't be able to reach the back pins. Like mrdan said, you might want to try grinding down the shaft.

The pen handle pick looks good, but it still needs some sanding to maximize its potential, you cant' get good at picking if your pick is rough
the others as stated would need the shafts thined out a bit to help the pick tip stand above them.
I think you should find another material to put all your work into, the actual temper of coathanger is not so good. and they are more work to make I think. Buy a cheap flat steel plumbers snake at the bigbox store near you. or use sweeper bristle, wiper inserts, or buy the very reasonably priced feeler gauge foot longs, you can buy them by size at a machinests supply house. I suggest .025 as a good feeler gauge to start with.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

I cant feel what im doing to the pins in the lock with the pen handle...i know i tried and made a fairly good little pick set, but i thinks its time to buy a real set, but ill still keep making pick for fun. i think im going to buy the "seventeen piece lock pick set" from Southord...if anyone thinks of a another pick set i may need to get please post.

Have you tried other materials? When I first got into it I made several from hack saw blades. They were more than suitable for learning, then I bought a SouthOrd set when I wanted to move up a little. Just be careful as they can sometimes be pretty brittle.
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.

Thanks Wrenchman, i found that post two day ago and i been practicing ever since
I tried hack saw blades once and i almost cut my finger off lol, because i don't have a grinding wheel, the way i make my lock pick is with a hammer a file and some sand paper...

Thanks josh0094 i made the tension wrench because iam left handed and it makes it more ez for me to pick locks
I made a new hook pick yesterday and it works really well on door locks but i like to use the diamond on pad locks and master locks., as for the polishing i was going too, but the picks get alot of wear and tear in the lock so i skip the polishing. I think my picks are pretty good so iam not going to buy a lock pick set no more.
