Padlock overpicking?

Postby thelockpickkid » 26 Dec 2007 1:28

Ok, you all have given me good advice in the past, but I have a dumb question. I have picked masterlocks 1, 3, 5, and today I picked an Abus lock. I can always pick a lock about 5 times fairly quick but for some reason I have trouble picking them more than that, its like I pick them and it does something to them and makes them harder to pick later. Does this make sense? or is it just me?

Another trick to try is try changing your pick occasionally. Sometimes I find I seem to get too familiar with the lock / pick combination and my concentration begins to fall off

I do change picks very often, I once heard a guy say, no need to buy a big pickset, good lockpickers usually only rely on one or two picks! I don't know what this guy was talking about, I find that different picks or rakes work better on some locks than others, also, tension wrench designs also make a difference to me, sometimes one is better than another. I probably am just getting tired I guess, maybe thats why I am having a hard time, I should slow down a tad and not pick as much all at one time. thanks for the advice guys, It sorta confirmed what I was thinking as well.

I guess it's all a matter of preference, like golfers and their clubs.

I only use 2-3 picks but I've had those experiences where I have used those 2-3 to no avail and put in another one only to find that it opens the lock in the first few tries.

Whatever your case may be, don't go by others. You're your own picker and you know whats best for you.
