ABUS

I have not heard alot of talk about abus. What sort of security do they offer? I have a Abus 45/hb40, at first it was hard to pick but then when I used gentle pressure and some light raking, that darn thing will come open all the time, also if you man handle the pins they will false set and will not open, does this lock have security pins? I can't tell but I think it does, I have not picked a lock yet with them, so I don't know he feel yet. thanks guys for your feedback, you are awesome! :D

You should check the Abus website, they usually list it if the lock has security pins in it and they will tell what kind of pins (usually mushrooms).

the few abus locks i've opened have contained spool pins even though it says mushroom pins on the packaging.

The Abus 45 series is listed as being "standard Security" and strangely for an Abus there's no mention of security pins :?

Every Abus I've picked has had them. Try gently pressing on a "set" pin and see if the tension wrench starts to rotate backwards. If it does then you have security pins.

Use very light pressure on the tension wrench and pick (I usually use a short hook or offset 1/2 diamond).

I did some digging and I am sure that they have mushroom pins, also it took me awhile to pick this lock, I developed a technique by trial and error that will open it almost everytime, it is hard to explain,, I rake then I let tension off of the wrench, the pins move the wrench back up slightly then I resume tension and almost everytime I stick a pick in there it will open! thanks guys! I just am new at this, and I have not seen any abus locks around here, till a guy at work gave me one!
