buying a safe

Postby plumber carl » 11 Jan 2008 7:13

would like to buy a safe iv looked a round e bay and there seems no problem with acquiring one for around the region of 150 Pound's second hand. The safe i would like would be no more than 1000 mm high smaller prefer ed. And be able to be trans ported in a small van a round 250 kilos.seems a manageable weight. my question is would it be best to go for an older safe say 40 years old or are the modern ones just as good? And are they as secure or well made? Appreciate this is a very debatable question and no two people will share the same view. how ever i would appreciate your view's on who you think are the best manufacturer's it appears most are good, im also aware of insurance rating the higher the better I'm probably looking at a safe which is resistant to physical attack rather than high end locking systems what your opinion?

it depends on what you need to be transporting, whether it be money, paper documents or both, also what insurance rating do you need, have you been told what rating you will need for what you are transporting, and is the safe only going to be used to transport your stuff from one safe to another or will it be staying in the one safe?.

also who needs access to it, if you have a key lock, and the key has to be delivered with the safe, who ever has the key will have access, and could also copy it, so a dial or digital lock would be better for this, but dials can be damaged it transport
