Strange type of key

Postby lifesbreath » 29 Mar 2008 19:55

Hi
I've have seen this key that looks like a half circle cylinder, I suspect it uses pins to unlock/lock it.
My question is could I use a pick set with say padlock picks and tension wrench or would I need a different pick and what type is this lock called thanks.

Sounds to me like a Bilock key, and no you will not be able to pick it. Discussion of this lock is for the advanced area of the forum only.

It might be an Abloy key.

Half circle? Seems like an Abloy Classic.

Did you mean this kind of half circle? D that could be an abloy, or an abus, or a baton or an ESP, there seem to be a lot of abloy knockoffs around now. who can name more of them?

Hi,

We are familiar with many locks, but without a photo, we can only keep guessing. My money is on an Abloy classic or generic variant. What did you mean by padlock picks by the way? A pick set will open both padlocks and door lock knobs and deadbolt pin tumbler cylinders.

Do you have a pic of the key or the lock? and does it resemble any of the keys or key profiles in this pic: http://www.westsidelocks.com.au/images/abloy_key_system.jpg

good luck!

From the pictures it is a abloy classic key.

carl more

Postby raimundo » 3 Apr 2008 9:25

strange that you should ask that question, normally they are thought of as using a special pick, however there is some video of Carl Mor picking one by tensioning the first disc and picking the rest with a hook.

Look on You tube, and use abloy or disc lock as a search term, the name may be carl**69 with the asterisks as numbers I forgot, perhaps 29.
