Combination locks info needed

Combination locks ---- I live in a crime hell hole and need to know what is a real good Combination lock is ---a padlock type --- that way there is no key for them to get hold of and copy --- dos nay one here know the best type of Combination lock is the hardest to pick or get into --- Thanks heaps----

When it comes to combination padlocks the only thing you need to be concerned about is how much effort is needed to break it open. The regular combo padlock with the dial on the front can easily forced open by a metal bar or pipe because the shackle is held in place by a spring loaded bolt but the one shown above uses ball bearings making it a bit tougher and impossible to shim.

i have fitted some stainless steel tube that should act as shim guards and stop then useing them i hope it's interesting what you say about the spring loaded shackel --- thanks

you can make out the stainless band i have fitted to the shackel in the hope it will stop the use of shims it could be improved on ---- dos any one know if the Combination lock in the pic are any good --- Thanks ---

for the combination lock shown. it can be bypassed by manipulating the numbers of the Lock.

Given the blur to the image I can't tell what brand of lock, but the generic Masterlock 175 fits the catagory of that type of lock. One can either decode the combination with the right tool used while slowly turning each number wheel, or bypass the lock with a different tool. You could find details via a Google search of this site or the Internet. I can't provide details on how per the rules for this site.

If you want a reasonably priced combination lock that would need to be cut to be opened without the combination then I'd suggest a surplus Sargent and Greenleaf 8088 or 8087. You can find them on eBay, sometimes for under twenty dollars.

That 175 lock kept me puzzled for a while until I learned how to properly modify and use a small knife tool. Now that thing is way too easy.

To answer your original question, if that is indeed a Master 175, then it cannot be shimmed at the shackles anyway. The locking bar prevents the shackle bolts from moving in as the primary locking mechanism.

Read up on alternate opening methods as mentioned.

Your shackle sleeves may have some merit on other padlocks to prevent shimming and cutting.

-- I have been rebuilding my own locks but untill I started I had no idea they could be picked -- after re keying a 5 leave chubb and finding it unlocked the next night --- that realy got me wondeing how the hell they were doing it --- so hear i am-----finding out how ease it is for the underworld and not so underworld to do stuff like that ---- and i need to stop them --- the info on this sit has helped a little--

which is the hardest combo lock to work out the combo on ---- like for any one trying to do so with out them knowen the combo numbor ---
