i think i broke my lock

hey everyone
so here's the deal i recently purchased a standard euro door lock to practice on.
it took me about an hour to finally get all the pins in ,but when i started turning the lock at about 180° he just stoped.
so i assumed i had to picklock it again and it's what i did for an hour and a half .
then i gave up and try to put in the key to unlock it but that's where i have my problem, the thing is the key wont go in anymore...
i think it's because of the second pin that wont move.

maybe there's a security that prevents any lockpiking...and now my lock is broken..

any advice ,suggestions on how to repair or picklock it would be welcome

So to clarify, you picked the lock and it turned 180 degrees and got stuck, and that's the state it's in now? I've had this happen before, what sometimes happens is the top pins fall into the little gap in the cylinder that would normally be blocked by the bottom of the key being in there.

What I normally do to fix this is hold the back of the pick flat against the bottom of the keyway where it's getting stuck, which simulates the bottom of the key and pushes the top pins up, letting the cylinder continue turning.

I'm having the same problem coacholee was having. Yet, I still can't get it unstuck. Jgor, can you clarify what you are talking about? I stuck my pick in the place that the top pins are falling. Yet, I still cant get the cylinder to rotate back. I am using a kwikset.

You're not the first or the last. I made this diagram in July 2006.




Insert the back of a wrench so it lifts ALL of the top pins back into the bible. Using a pick and pushing them up one by one will not work. As you lift them all at once with the back of the hook pick, or the handle of a tension wrench, apply rotational movement to get the plug back to normal position. good luck.
