Replace Door lock

Postby Hipster » 26 Jul 2008 12:25

Guys can you help me, need to replace a Yale barrel lock in Double glazed door, take off the handle , but their is no screw at the side except a small possible 5 mm in length for door mechanism, well anyway removed that and still cannot get lock out, placed key in and turned it slightly , still no luck

Anybody got any ideas ,

Thanks

Im guessing that you might have a mortise style lock, if so take of the face plate (the plate on the front of the lock where the latch is) which is normally held in by a couple of screws, then behind that there will be another screw that holds the cylinder in, you might not have the type of lock I'm thinking of though, if you can post a picture of it that would help alot

Is it a Yale branded multipoint lock? If it is then they dont have a screw but instead they have a hex nut. It'll be in line with the bottom of the euro cylinder like usual.

Cheers, Nick

Hi, thanks for the advice, cannot see any type of screw or Hex nut,
When I take the handles off, there is nothing holding it in, from what I can see
Would I need to look from the side of the door where the locks come out ?
Thanks again
