new at this forum. how to pick a BUVA lock?

Postby disclose » 20 Sep 2008 8:46

hi
i'm new on this forum and to lock picking.
i bought a small southord set and a klomgun and have been busy trying to open all my locks in my house for about a month now.
the easiest to pick in my house are the windowlocks with 3 pins. in just seconds i can unlock it. anybody can open these locks...
a bit harder is my basement doorlock and my front doorlock. it's a buva lock which is a dutch housingorganisation mostly for big housing/apartment projects. They have a whole range of locks with all kinds of security types. Both my basement and front doorlock i could pick only once with extreme luck. But i cannot seem to do it second time. after i succeeded one time i want to do it again and won't stop until i do. this hobby is addictive! I've been trying it for weeks now, but with no success. I even got so frustrated that i bought a electric klomgun to succeed again. but also with this klomgun i cannot do it. it seems like its false setting all the time. even with the slightest tension. When i try SPP it, i can feel 1 pin have alot of resistance even without tension applied. if i take hands of the wrench and push that pin, i can see the wrench moving. I'm really frustrated i cannot beat this lock.
I cannot find any reference on this type of lock on the forum. Brand is BUVA, google it for more info(dutch websites). i think it has some spool securitypins, as i've understood what spoolpins the cilinder will move a couple of degrees when the pin gets false set which is the case with this lock.
so who can help me beat this lock?
why is there so much resistance on one of the pins without even using tension?
Is it possible there is no binding pin?
why cant i open it with a klomgun?
can a bumpkey open all doors?(ie with spool or serrated pins)

thanks for the help

Do not pick the locks on your house. You can and likely will damage them if you are a beginner. That causes alot of problems in the fuure.

that's true, but i actually knew that.

my goal is still to be able to beat this buva lock.
so if i want to buy one, how can i know for sure which lock this is?
i've checked to lock but cannot find anything about model or type, only the brand. and that is buva.
anyway, i won't try to pick the lock when the door is closed. If i would damage my lock i still can remove it out of the door and replace it.
what i also can do is just remove it and try to pick the lock. but then again it doesn't seem so realistic.
can somebody still answer my questions?

I don't know this lock and I'm assuming it's a pin tumbler. It could just be gummed up and dirty.

No

You should be able to with practice.

Yes, as long as it's a standard pin tumbler.

It seems that your happy to ignore that fact, your only short of pounding on that lock with a jackhammer!
my goal is still to be able to beat this buva lock.

And it seems that you would like to beat this lock, by any means possible.
Why this lock ? Most people are happy to learn lockpicking and not hone in on one lock, a lock type used by your local housing authority!!
I guess you would like a master key or something ???

Your not adding up in my books, not as a genuine hobby picker anyway.

because I've been trying for a very long time now.
i feel restless if i cannot beat it. i succeeded once, with luck i might add, but it means it is possible!
i've beaten all other locks in my house several times. but i also think all locks except the frontdoor and basemant lock are non-security locks.

This isn't a rental house, the apartment is mine so i dont have to worry about a housing company. it's just the fact that the housing organisation was contracted to install locks in the whole apartment complex. i just wanted to explain who is the manufacturer of this lock.

anyway, is the chance of damaging the lock so big if i'd be very carefull and always use very light tension?

There is still a chance of damaging the lock. Especially if you are using a pick gun over and over. You said it's an apartment, do you pay monthly rent or are you buying it? If you are a renter you don't own the locks and you should absolutely not be messing with them.

hmm then i'd better stop using the pickgun.
i said it's an apartment, but i also said it is mine... not a rental.
