Or should I get all of those. I'm American. Should I still get the Slim Line ones too?

depends on what you wanna pick. Most locks in America will open with the normal picks, but the nicer locks with more difficult keyways, the thinner slim line euro/japanese picks will fit in more locks easier.

This set is good for the money, real good.

I would buy them in a heart beat but I got a question

Do they break easily? I'm a beginner and I have a tendency to be a bit rough. I mean I'm not going to just like go like a mad man but I hope it's not like that China made crap. I'm not calling your material crap I'm just making a uh...I don't know but I'm not calling it crap. Basically I don't want it to break right when I get it. Is it brittle is what I'm asking. LoL

This post is good, more of these from you please.

no its not brittle chinese crap, I think they're made in the USA. That said, if you dont know how to pick, or how to properly tension a lock, you will end up bending tension wrenches and bending, weakening and finally snapping the heads off your picks. We all do it and there is even a pick grave yard thread for those times when our favorite picks break.

Expect that your first set will last a year, and that you will break a pick in the first 30 days. It's normal for heavy handed users, I know, because I was one myself. That's why you should get a basic set for < $30, and not that $65 HPC set.

You really dont need that many picks. I suggest just going to southord.com and getting a pxs-5 or 8

After seeing How to make your own lock picks by PYRO. I'm not really sure I want to buy em. He said the carbon steal hack saw blades have proofed far superior to 'southord' type picks and don't break as easily. I would pay someone to make me picks.

Brittle like chinese crap? Why's it always gotta be about the asians? We make hella good rice, get some! LMAO!!!!!!

But seriously, if you're interested in homebrew picks, I can't recommend enough the various people associated with this site. LockNewbie21, Raimundo, Kaotic (not sure if he's still producing) just to name a few. They all produce very nice custom pics for the money, both in showmanship and durability.

I personally have purchased over half the picks I own from LN21, Raimundo and few others and for the most part, I find them vastly superior to the commerically available counterparts such as my Peterson picks or a few of my HPC and SO picks.

Pricewise, yes, you'll probably pay a little more for possibly few picks, but in the end, again it's about the craftmanship and durability that I go for and my homebrew pics can't be beat.

I'm thinking of having someone make me some picks. I would pay as much money as possible for custom made long long lasting stainless steal picks used for LEGAL REASONS ONLY. NOT ILL LEGAL

I tried making my own a few months ago and failed miserably. Looked like an ice pick when I was trying to make a half diamond. LoL. Anyways, you think they'd be willing to make em for me? I made a post in the Buy-Sell-Trade forum.

I don't see why we would even consider having a war with Chinese, they make the best Chinese food in America and I would help one in a fight.

Really though, the Southord set is fine. If you're breaking them within a year of using them, you're doing it wrong. The standard 8/11/14 piece sets by Southord on lockpickshop.com are great for a beginner.

cheaper to buy some than get them made. i would buy the picks separately from southord.com instead of the kit, but it depends on how much money you have.
