Need help

Postby BrokenFist » 6 Nov 2008 19:47

Hello,

I tried searching the forums and on google but not able to find anything. A lady at my office had missplaced her key to her fileing cabinet, one of the other guys found out I did a pick of picking (several years ago) and asked me if I could open it. Well all last night I practiced on my desk lock from work and managed to get it open within 4-30 secs each time. I tried her lock today for over an hour and no luck the lock has hon 321E stamped on the front.

It feels as though I'm able to set all the pins but it just wont open, I got my mini flashlight and checked and looks like all pins are set. Has anyone come accross this lock before or have any info on it? help would be appreciated! If all else fails I have the go ahead to it out and replace the lock.

thank you

What exactly are you using to pick the lock? and you know that just lifting all the wafers or pins as high as they go doesn't mean they are "set" right? I think its time for your office manager to call a locksmith and pay $50 to get this open and a new key made rather they trying to macguyver it. that number (321E) is just the blind code for the bitting of the key, it's not the locks model number or anything like that. I think you'd have better luck opening that cabinet if you took a key out of another hon cabinet and put it in that lock and jiggled it up and down while pulling the key out and putting it back in.. just tell your friends that you're too rusty, and its best to call a pro at this point.

good luck and let us know how you make out,

I'm using a diamond, and a rake to pick and regular torsion wrench. I'm just really rusty last time I've done this cept for the practice I did the previous night was about 4 years ago and even then only worked with a few locks around the house so nothing too great =( But this has sparked my interest again so I'm happy bout that =)

We got a quote from a locksmith for $200 to come out not sure whats happening now I'm outta the loop. Thanks for the reply :)
