Helping an old friend...

Postby keith82687 » 13 Nov 2008 21:14

I've been getting better and better at picking locks since I got my set, and one of my friends knew about it. Today he locked himself out of his dorm room and it was after hours so he'd have to pay to get the door opened, and he was broke. He had all these things to do and stuff due tomorrow. I told him all the risks in picking a lock in use since I'm not an expert or a locksmith, although I don't think he listened. It was an older lock and came open in a few seconds. It went smoothly but, in hindsight, I'm wondering if I did the right thing. First off I know he lived in that room...so I knew it wasn't a trick to get into somewhere he shouldn't be. There was noone around on duty to ask for permission. My question is...has anyone heard of a similar story in which you or someone got caught picking the lock for someone? In Alabama its a class C felony IF its with intent to steal or do something illegal, so i thought I was in the clear.

numerous reasons why that could be a bad idea....

most 'dorm' rooms are master keyed, this means you could messed that lock up....
