Writing on Locksmithing and Locksport

Hey all,

I am currently in the process of writing a literary journalism essay on locksport and the locksmithing trade. I am speaking to several locksmiths in my area, but I would like to get more input. I hope to put a competitive spin on the trade to give it some flair. Many people see locksmithing as a trade skill like plumbing or carpentry. But I see it a bit differently. In locksmithing and lockpicking, unlike other tradeskills, there is a friendly competitive atmosphere. Competition to be better than your peers and competition to be better than lengendary locks. With that said, I would appreciate any interesting stories, trade tips, or insider insights that only veterans would know. Also, flavor about those legendary locksmiths and stubborn locks would be fantastic.

Locksmithing is a trade but lockpicking is not. It is involved in the locksmith trade and is only a very small part of the game.

Lockpicking is similar to puzzle making, but puzzle making is not artistry is it?

Lockpicking is fun because it is personally rewarding. The feeling of seeing the plug turn without the key, is one of the few uplifting "GOT IT" feelings you can have IMHO.
