Picking of the Primus is restricted to the advanced forums (I think?), but with the Everest you need to defeat the side pin and then pick the regular pins normally. You can make a half key to defeat the side pin or just use a half diamond/c-rake to push it into position. Personally, I have tried both and have had no luck picking my Everest, though it does have a somewhat challenging set of cuts.

Half key is IMO the best way to go. They are tough to learn but worth all the effort.

For the Everest, straighten part of a paper clip, slide it in the bottom right channel to pull in the pin, and pick it normally. Your tension wrench will hold the paper clip in place while you pick.

All of these special tools are fun and neat, but I find that picking the check pin works just as well. Like the m3 slider, it seems easier to just press it during picking. In Everest, this means using a pick sideways down that part of the keyway (I like to use a Peterson half-diamond but many others work), bumping into the check pin, and rotating the pick to lift it. If you do this while tensioning, the check pin will set and you can withdraw the pick and begin picking the normal pin stacks.
