Electric Lock Pick (PLEASE HELP)

Postby wolfhunter » 25 Mar 2009 12:28

I recently bought a lockpick from southord called the 500xt or what ever there latest model is. I have watched the video Lock picking for the new millennium. David Storm uses a electric pick in this video and he is able to open a lock in no time at all...but when i try to just put the pick in the lock the tool gets jamed and doesn't work...:( so i dont know what to do...I can tell the pick was used because it had some corrosion in the bottom of the battery pack...and it was suppost to be NEW!!!!! can anyone help me please?

Corrosion does not mean the lockpick was used. For the answer to your other question, see the other thread you made.

As stated above just because of the corrosion does not mean it was used. It may have been sitting in a high humidity storage area. You can search this site and youtube for videos on using the electric pick. You may be putting to much pressure on the pick or not have it in properly, perpendicular to the lock face. An electric pick is not a magic open all locks device. It still takes a little know how on using it.

Hi wolfhunter,

Make sure you aren't sticking the needle in too far and be sure to watch your tension. When I'm using an electric gun there I barely touch the tension wrench. Try placing tension on the plug as you normally do and then rake the pins with a pick. If the pins are tight or won't even move then you are using way too much tension. Many pin tumbler locks do open in seconds with pick guns. However, some locks just won't yield. Try using your gun on different locks and see if your success rate improves.
