I was at the dentist today getting my teeth fixed up when I noticed something.
While the dentist was away talking with his assistant or whatever, I noticed a small tool he left on the table. It was a small lockpicking-like tool with a tip so thin I couldn't believe it. Surely this tool must be fragile and break easily. After playing a bit with, I couldn't believe how resistant it was. And the tip was perfect! The perfect lenght - enough to hit even the deepest lock but not enough so that you didn't get any feedback. The tip has the perfect angle, the perfect length and it was incredibly robust. The tip looked the average hook pick, but thinner. It was incredibly easy and fast to move.
The dentist came back as I was playing with it. I've known him for a while so he asked me rather nicely:
-So, you like my tool?
-Yes, what is this?
-This is an extremely precise and rare tool I use in the most complex cases. It's used with complex operation inside a tooth, to remove small microscopic nerves. Any false move could kill the tooth, so it has to be extremely precise.
-Wow....
-It's hand-made and there is one place in the US known. It's the most precise tool we dentist use. The tip is made out of pure titanium and is almost unbreakable. The tip is manually attached to the grip for maximum precision. Each of these tool takes a whole to a specialist to assemble and only us dentists can order it, from our association directly.
He looked back and for a second I considered stealing it. There was some kind of attraction between me and that lockpick. Finally, I decided myself:
-How much?
-It's not for sale.
-How much?
-I might have a use for it for a patient tomorrow, you know...
-Please?
-Why do you want it?
-(PARTIAL LIE) I have some use for some very-high precision work.
-I know professional watch repairmen use it for Rolex and high-end watch. That kind of work?
-Yeah, that kind.
-Hmmm.
As he kept thinking and moving his document again, I played with it. The tip didn't bend at all no matter the pressure I put. It seemed VERY strong, especially given its size. And it was extremely easy to use as well, like the tip was without any weight.
-You are sure about wanting this tool?
-Yes.
-Okay... 500.
-Dollars?
-Yes. 500$.
I swallowed slowly. I didn't expect this tool to be free, still, it was a bit over what I wanted to pay. Still, there was only one chance. I slowly got out my wallet.
-You take credits cards, I asked?
-Wh... What? You're serious?
He seemed really surprised, like he expected me to back off.
-Hold on, he said.
I waited some more, playing a bit more with the tool. He eventually came back, still shocked I wanted it so bad. He finally proposed 100$ and I agreed immediately.
And it was well worth it. It was at least as good as I expected when I saw it and I immediately fell in love with it, up to the point it's the only lockpick I ever use. For SPP, it's simply the best I have ever tried or seen. This tool is awesome. It completely beats any other pick I have ever used. First it's insanely small and moves with it are soft, slow and precise. The feedback you get from a lock is almost perfect and unlike regular small picks, this one is able to apply strong pressure without breaking or bending (which happened with a smaller pick). I was able to pick my first lock with security pins just because it's so perfect.
I will be taking a pic as soon as I can so you can see this incredible tool. It's just that good. It's so good I want to get another just in case. If I manage to get a stable supply, I am opening a shop. I will sell directly to locksmith and my slogan will be "You try it a week. If you don't like it, give it back. Else, you barely pay 150$ to keep it". I am certain 99% of people will want it. You instantly fall in love with it. It's that good.
