So I just did something VERY stupid...

Postby veecrawn » 24 Apr 2009 9:50

I've been lockpicking the last few days and buying more and more locks for practice. Yesterday I bought a pair of handcuffs - professional ones in metal and all, not the ones you can open just by shaking it.

To add an element of suspense and challenge - and supposedly because handcuffs are sooo easy to open - I added an extra challenge: I handcuffed myself to a chair and challenged myself to unlock it with only one hand. This was to add a sense of reality and also to "force" me to lockpick successfully. Naturally, I threw away the key as I didn't want to see where the pins were located (in real life, you wouldn't know).

I've now spent the last 4 hours handcuffed to a chair and I have absolutely no idea what to do. I've tried every pick in my pack - raking, bumping, anything I could think of - without any sucess. I am starting to think it is a warded lock.

Locksmiths aren't an option because there is only one in my town and it will cost me 150$ at best. I've tried to cut it but I don't have any of the tools.

So... what do I do?

You have tried to cut it but don't have "any of the tools". What exactly did you try to cut it with? Pickles? Ice cream perhaps? Cheese? Those won't work.

I simply don't believe you. Not this post, or any others you have made. Don't go away mad, just go away..........

Ok so your handcuffed to a chair but you can still go and get tools, try to cut the cuffs of and also still get to your computer, in that time couldn't you of walked to where you threw the keys and opened it because seriously who would throw away keys to their lock, espicially if they don't know how to pick it.

Like freakparade3 said pickles don't work but you might have better luck with a banana.

I've extensive experience escaping out of hand cuffs and shackles(the legal way, I'm into escape arts ;-) ) and handcuffs are about the easiest thing to get out of. You can almost literally just stick something small into the keyhole and shake and undone it comes.....
I am a lowly wanderer. I like Star Wars more than you.
