picking,impressioning or decoding

Amongst this community there are guys who are quick in picking a lock , decode this lock after picking it by taking the lock apart.
Isn't the use of a measurement tool what measures the heights of each pin quicker than taking a lock apart and then measure the pins?

I was going to use this posting to find out as well what most of you guys use,the technique of picking a lock or impressioning?It,s more like two different postings but it explains at least the title... sigh......tired after 20 hours on the job....not healthy.....

It depends on the lock. But since you are asking about pin tumbler locks. It is always a good idea to take the lock apart incase it is masterkeyed. Otherwise if we weren't worried about master pins, I would pick it/ then decode what I could easily/ and then impression the rest of the way.
